Tucked away in the heart of the Jezreel valley in the north of Israel, the Galilee Bedouin Camplodge offers unique accommodation quite unlike anything else you’re ever likely to encounter. The spacious and comfortable tents and the hospitality of the owners make this a great place to stay and explore the Galilee region.

Izhar and Irit, who set up the Galilee Camplodge, aim to fuse the traditional kindness and hospitality of the Bedouin village with the amenities and comfort of a modern guesthouse. Families, groups and solo travelers can stay in the large communal dormitory tent, a versatile space decked out with mattresses, clean linen and pillows, a dining area, a wood stove for the winter and wide openings to catch the summer breeze. Couples looking for an even more exotic private room can stay in the newly refurbished 1937 British train wagon. Down-to-earth budget travelers can also pitch their own camping tent in the grounds, and make use of the kitchen and other facilities that the Galilee Bedouin Camplodge has to offer.

The Galilee Bedouin Camp Lodge, also known as Shevet Ahim (“a tribe of brothers”), is on the outskirts of the Galilean Bedouin village, Hilf Tabash – a little off the usual tourist route, but not too far from Haifa, Nazareth and Zichron Ya’akov, and less than an hour’s drive from the Sea of Galilee. Closer by, there are a number of hiking and biking trails leading from the guesthouse to nearby nature reserves (Alonei Aba and Tzipori Brook), and to the charming, secluded spring of Ein Yivka, surrounded by a pomegranate garden and an old Carmelite mill. A picturesque former Templer village, called Bethlehem of the Galilee, is also very close by and worth visiting.

The tents and warm welcome of the Galilee Bedouin Camplodge make a perfect background for a relaxing vacation in one of the most beautiful sites in the country.
